Welcome to the Website!

The Alliance of Concerned Teachers is a new caucus dedicated to reforming New York City's United Federation of Teachers. Founded by the former director of the Unified Teachers Party, Joe Mudgett, takes great pride that the joint ICE/TJC slate has incorporated much of the UTP's ideology in their campaign platform.

Mr. Mudgett is extremely grateful for the forum the UTP gave him to explore, shape and express his opinions on the vital issues affecting our members. He thanks the UTP founders and members for urging him to run for delegate at Port Richmond High School, a position he was reelected to in the recent chapter elections.

intends to closely monitor the policies and actions of the union's leadership and address a broad array of issues affecting union members, women and men alike, across the teaching spectrum. It is 's central thesis that the Unity caucus exerts more energy in maintaining its dominance of the union than in serving and protecting the interests of the union's members. The rank and file should come first!

will inform teachers about needed reforms and encourage them to speak up and act in their own interests. By so doing, hopes to enhance and reinforce the efforts of the existing alternative groups within the union.

Visit our  Out section for suggestions about actions you can undertake to improve our union. True power in our union resides in its members. Take an active role and make your union work for you!
